5 of 5 Cool Tech Tools for Video

Ok, so YouTube is a bit obvious. However, I feel that I need to re-emphasize the ease of use of YouTube. We all have YouTube accounts associated with our HCC email accounts. Just click the apps button, then click More, then select YouTube. If it's your first time to YouTube from your HCC account, you'll have to click Sign-in at which point you'll be automatically logged in with your HCC username.

So, now that you have a YouTube account, you can easily upload videos from your computer, smart phone or tablet. From YouTube, you can edit your video, add captions and annotations.

Back to my original theme of these "5 Tech Tools for Video", which was making videos interactive! Uploading and sharing a video via YouTube doesn't make for an interactive activity necessarily. However, having students share videos within a forum in Moodle does make for an interactive engaging activity. In your Introduce Yourself forums at the beginning of the semester, why not have students introduce themselves with a video? Instead of having a student write a paragraph or reflection, give them the option to represent their thoughts through video, share it in the forum and allow others to respond to it. The possibilities are endless. Just always think about that extra step - structuring an activity that requires interaction.
