Happy New Year! What's your teaching innovation resolution?

For me, September has always been the real New Year. School begins; I turn a year older (and hopefully wiser), and it's Rosh Hashana.

So what new innovation are you infusing your teaching with? Are you dabbling your toes into Moodle and adding resources like files and videos to your Moodle course for the first time? Are you experimenting with some of the more advanced Moodle tools and other technology
to increase engagement and personalize the experience for your students?

Maybe you've been thinking about creating videos to explain some tricky concepts and model problem solving. Now is the time! Start slow. One video at a time. Eventually, you will have a library of videos. HCC faculty like Kris Ricker-Choleva of Hospitality and Culinary Arts has been shooting videos on the go with her iPhone. Aaron Levin of Mathematics has been making videos on the Interactive Smart Screen in Frost 292. Bob Greeney of Physics has just borrowed the iPad to guide students through physics problems using the app Explain Everything. Gail Vivian of Psychology is making screencast videos to help her students get started using Google Drive. Karen Hines of Business and Claire Sanders of Deaf Studies and many more have welcomed their online students with welcome videos. It's simpler than you may think. We have the technology and are here to support you. Now is the time! Contact me to setup an appointment.

Happy New Year!
